Background
As life expectancy increases, it is important to recognize the benefits of building and sustaining immunity to various diseases over the life-course. Through immunization, health and well-being can be maximized by preventing specific infections and training the immune system to develop long-lasting positive effects. The webinar “Building a Better Immunity: A Pathway to Healthy Longevity” aims to familiarize participants with the life-course approach to immunization and its benefits. During the webinar, speakers will define the core principles and processes of immunity across the life-course, and panellists will provide examples of the applications of immunization across life and the short- and long-term benefits of this strategy.
Webinar’s objectives:
- Inform participants on the life-course approach to immunization and its short- and long-term health benefits;
- Provide examples of how the life-course approach principles apply to vaccination to strengthen the long-term health of individuals and communities;
- Promote future applications of the life-course approach to vaccination campaigns and immunization programs;
- Recognize the implications of using a life-course approach to strengthen health policy and achieve better health outcomes;
- Create a technical document to summarizing the main points of the presentations and including the best practices and key messages for countries’ consideration.
